The sound of the Desert

I have seen so many crappy Hollywood movies in the recent past that they left a very bad taste in my mouth. I am very selective about the Hindi movies that I watch and I usually only see the ones they intrigue me but with Hollywood movies I am sometimes disappointed when I watch movies which according to me are over hyped with tons of special effects and no story line at all. The last such movie which I saw and that I can remember was 300. And then there have been so many other ones I rather not remember their names. But luck has been on my side for the past few days I have seen 4 good movies in a row.
It started with Titus which I think was beautifully shot with great costumes and acting, The Last Emperor was another masterpiece and I'd want to see more of Bernardo Bertolucci's work, Kundun was beautifully directed and I liked it much more than the other Martin Scorsese's movies that I have seen, I wrapped it up with Syriana again very thought proving with great acting by the lead star cast.
I also stumbled upon an album called Rakhi by Thierry "Titi" Robin and Gulabi Sapera. It's the marriage of sounds of the nomads from the desert state of Rajasthan called Kalbeliyas (the snake charmers) and the sound of the Gypsies. It is a really interesting sound and it is growing on me. It reminded me of a vacation I took to Rajasthan a few months ago and at the hotel there was a performance by a group of nomads. An old man was playing a local fiddle and singing along with his wife, his voice was rustic and mesmerizing to say the least. The next day there was a breathtaking performance by a group of gypsies with fire, dance and music et all.

I came here for a post and ended up going through each and every post last night. Though I cannot relate to it, 'cause I've not been though anything like it. But I could feel what you might have felt at that point of time.

Thanks for dropping in once again Rohan. I have had a life filled with it's share of ups and downs and I have nothing to complain about. This blog is meant to be my outlet for the myriad of emotions and thoughts in my head and it seems to be helping.

Congratulation on going through all the posts. I fail to understand what one may find interesting in these schizophrenic ramblings of mine. You must be a brave man.
I have read just one blog from start to end http://singleinthecity1.blogspot.com and after having read it I felt I knew a lot about the person until I met him and realised that I didn't. But I can understand how you must be feelin after having been up all night reading a blog.

I really doubt you can know someone completely from what they write. But you can get a brief glimpse of what the person is going through at that point of time.

Also whatever is written is just one side of the story. But if nothing else I figured out that you have good taste.

I hope the glimpses have been pleasant. And thanks for appreciating my 'good taste'.
