Plastic Smiles and Gifts
It's festival time here. Diwali is just around the corner and there is a horde of friends and relatives dropping in with presents and 'best wishes' and much to my opposition and dislike I am paraded before them and that is followed by all the usual question that make me uncomfortable so much so that I want to pull the guests head off their necks so that they stop talking. The usual questions are those concerning the future : work, marriage blah blah and everyone seems to have an opinion inspite of their unhappy life written all over their face. My face starts to hurt with the non stop smiling and courtesies!
But it's not all bad. The great sales on during the festival season is great. Well just a few days to go as Diwali falls on the 9th after which life should be back to normal.
P.S. I just got a nice little digital camera as a gift from an acquaintance for Diwali and that has kinda brought back the spark back the festive season :-)

Happy Diwali, in advance. May you get a tonne of nice goodies that yuo actually want to keep and not just recycle:)
Did you get anything great for your handsome self?
Thanks W wish the same for you. Well recycling is an important part of the festive season. Ain't it!!!
I will get something from mum but that's for later.
I read a comment that you left in a friend's blog, marcolmsted, about a post from his nephew who is visiting India and his impressions about the current state of the caste system. I found your comments very enlightening and decided to check out your blog. Your writing is very lucid and thought provoking and I am enjoying reading your posts. In additon, I very much like your selection of music. I am also a fan of Nina Simone and Nana Mouskouri. I just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed visiting your blog and that I will return. I also agree with your well made points in your post of October 31, Dirty Politics.
Thanks Sheria. Thanks for comments about the blog and my ramblings on Marc's blog. I hope to hear more from you in the future.
Well I am glad that you agree with my observations on the 31st!!
